Ca’ Di Mat ‘Los Peros’ Garnacha 2018

In stock

  • Otherworldly Spanish Garnacha (Grenache)
  • Sourced from an 80 year old-vine organic vineyard
  • One of the true benchmarks of its' region

The limited production Ca’ Di Mat ‘Los Peros’ Garnacha comes from a small single granite-soiled vineyard in the town of San Martín de Valdeiglesias, lying 800–850 metres above sea level. The wine benefited from a slow indigenous yeast fermentation and maceration over two months, and was then left in 500L old oak barrels for 12 months before bottle.
This is an incredibly elegant Garnancha, showing a finesse and complexity that could easily have you mistaking it for fine Pinot Noir. Cherries, herbs, wild flowers and the minerality of granite are all in play here, making for an incredible drinking experience.

“There is also a red 2018 Los Peros Garnacha from a plot of 80-year-old vines in the place known as Los Peros in the zone of Andrinoso in the village of San Martin de Valdeiglesias. It had a slow fermentation and maceration of two months followed by a year in well-seasoned 500-liter oak barrels. There is a lot more finesse here than in the 2017, and this has an herbal/minty twist, like green aromatic herbs, wild flowers and berries. The palate has depth and is layered, with fine tannins and a texture that somewhat makes me think of the wines from slate soils in Gredos, even if this is not the case here.”
