  • Cool climate Garnacha from the high-altitude Sierre de Gredos
  • Comando G is a collaboration between two of the region's benchmark producers
  • Stunning to drink now and will continue to improve over the next decade

La Bruja de Rozas – The Witch of Rozas – is a reference to the almost perpetually grey skies and eerie light typical of the area around the town of Rozas del Puerto Real.

Sourced from several high altitude plots on granite soils, La Bruja displays the sort of high toned, delicate, lifted aromas of liquorice, pomegranate and raspberry that have made the Comando G wines so sought after.

Organically farmed, fermented with indigenous yeasts and subject to up to five months maceration, La Bruja receives just as much care and attention in the vineyard and winery as top cuvees.

It represents an amazingly pure interpretation of the village of Rozas and is a fantastic way to get to know the Gredos wines.

Mike Bennie

“From the mountainous wine region of Sierra de Gredos, this is grenache from one of Spain’s great, avant garde wine producers. So perfumed, all red cherry, anise, fennel, cranberry and rose petals, with the faintest whiff of smoky, warm rocks. The palate finds similar flavours, sheathed with herb-laced, stony, ultra fine tannins. Incredible persistence of flavour, tension and succulence are noteworthy comments. Such a beautiful, fine wine to drink. Utterly delicious and detailed.” – Mike Bennie, The Wine Front

“It’s from a vintage that feels very complete and balanced and delivered very healthy grapes, good yields and grapes with ripe flavors and very good freshness. The wine is juicy but also sharp and mineral and nuanced. It has great depth and is finely knitted, textured, mineral and saline. I think this will surpass the already-amazing 2016. There is such purity of fruit and the wine is so intense that the oak is completely transparent. I had the chance to drink this wine on repeated occasions, as I find it has an unbeatable price for the quality. It’s a more complete version of the 2016; it’s bright and transparent, spicy, elegant, nuanced, juicy but complex, with not only fruit but also violets and an herbal side, and it’s characterful with finesse and texture. High drinkability with aging potential.” – Luis Guitierrez, The Wine Advocate
