Domain Parent Bourgogne Selection Pomone 2019

In stock

  • Sourced from two select parcels of certified organic vines near Pommard
  • Displays beautiful ripe cherries
  • One of our top picks of the vintage

Ann Parent started bottling this ‘super’ Bourgogne in 2015, simply because, as she puts it “the quality from these old vines deserved it’s own wine”. It’s exclusively from two parcels of vines, all over 50 years old near Pommard. The name Selection Pomone is inspired by the origins of the name of the Pommard village. Pomona was the Goddess for fruitful abundance in ancient Roman religion.

100% destemmed. 14 days on skins. Aged in Demi Mud 600ltr longer elevage than the Bourgogne village. No new oak.

Old vines, destemmed, aged in 600 litre barrels, including one barrel of declassified village Ladoix. One new barrel out of 10, now racked. Deep red crimson, very vibrant juicy stuff, not over ripe more in a sweet cherry style nonetheless. Sound balance behind.

From a selection of 60/65-year-old vines, the 2019 Bourgogne Côte d’Or “Sélection Pomone” was de-stemmed and underwent a longer skin maceration, aged in one-year old barrels and demi-muids. It has a fragrant strawberry and raspberry bouquet, the palate is a little sharp at the moment with a saline finish. Good potential – quite structured for this cuvée compared to past vintages.
