The vineyard is located on the heights of Ampuis, bordering the famous Côte-Rôtie region of the Northern Rhone, which along with the nearby village of Hermitage is the greatest region in France for Syrah.was planted in the 70s. These vines are worked according to the rules of organic agriculture protecting the true expression of the soil or terrior as the French often call this. Vines are well over 40 years old (Vielles Vignes means old vines) giving the wine so much complexity. If you haven’t tried French Shiraz or Syrah as they call it there it is a world away from the dense, rich and opulent styles of the Barossa Valley. Only spends 10 months in seasoned French oak. Perfumed, medium boded red that is simply seductive.
