  • Stunning Chablis from one of the region's rising stars
  • From a 40 year old plot just 3.2ha in size
  • "I am astonished by this as a straight Chablis!” - 5 star wine, Jasper Morris MW

Les Bas translates to below and this plot borders with the bottom of the 1er Cru of Chapelot, part of the Montee de Tonnerre hill, just a few yards away to the north sits Le Clos Grand Cru. The quality of this spot as a ‘village wine’ is outstanding. South East exposition. Deeper soil than the 1er Cru of Chapelot so gives more richness (Clay, Limestone, and Kimmeridgian). 3.2 ha, 40 years old. Wild Fermented in steel then elevage in barrel for 12 months of 6 to 30 year old barriques.

“Very pale colour. Currently a sulphur addition is slightly killing the nose. I am not worried on that score as the wine on the palate is absolutely astounding. There is more fruit than the previous two, a lively greener touch, with exceptional weight right across the palate. Huge length. I am astonished by this as a straight Chablis!” – 90-93 points – Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy

“The 2019 Chablis Le Bas de Chapelot is more discreet on the nose compared to the Les Pargues, displaying subtle scents of blood orange and apricot
blossom, beautifully defined as usual. The palate is vibrant and lively with a keen bitter lemon edge, dovetailing into a concentrated finish.
Excellent.” – 92-94 points – Neal Martin, Vinous
