Join one of Australia’s foremost experts on Italian wine, David Ridge from David Ridge Wines, as we put Barolo and Barbaresco head-to-head, to learn and discover why these two giants of the Italian wine scene should be seriously considered in equal esteem.
David’s expertise has helped shape Australia’s perception of the quality of Italian wine in general. He brings a deep well of knowledge, insights and anecdotes and is one of the wine trade’s great communicators, especially when it comes to the wines of Piedmonte.
This will also be a great opportunity to secure some of the region’s best value, most age-worthy but still under-the radar Barolo for your cellar.
The wines of Giovanni Sordo seem to astonish everyone who tries them. Nestled in the corner of Castiglione Falletto, this is a producer that wants their wines to speak of where they come from. Truly graceful, they have purity, refinement & loud terroir expression.
Barale produces a superb catalogue of authentic Barolo and cru Barbaresco wines. One of David’s most exciting discoveries in his many years travelling to Piedmont, these are firmly traditional wines, unforced in style and now being made to their full potential.
The history of La Spinona dates back to 1920, but these undiscovered gems have only recently become available in this country. La Spinona follow a sustainable approach to viticulture with 24 hectares of vineyards, primarily in the commune of Barbaresco.
MARCHESI DI GRESY
The wines of the Marchesi di Gresy are some of the most beautiful you will experience. The di Gresy family have been in Barbaresco for centuries and these are wines of incredible colour, perfumes, intensity and elegance.
