Notes
There was once a time when popular opinion positioned New World wines as fruit-forward, easy-drinking, and uncomplicated, whereas their Old World counterparts showed restraint, had savouriness and were food-friendly.
Today the lines are more blurred as approaches to viticulture and winemaking have cross-pollinated between hemispheres. Vignerons from Australia, New Zealand and the Americas have sought the experience, expertise, and classicism of their European contemporaries who in turn have adopted modern practices employed by their New World peers. Far from homogenising the world of wine, the impact of this means there are greater and more consistent expressions of variety and place than ever before.
This fusion of experimentation and tradition means there has never been a better time to be a wine lover. So join us as we taste 10 wines with matching bites and explore what’s old is new and what’s new is old.
