Northern Rhone Masterclass – Thursday session
Shiraz, also known as Syrah, is one of the world’s most ubiquitous and well-loved grape varieties. Its popularity stems in part from its hardiness, versatility, and ability to grow in a wide range of climates, as well as its inherent approachability and propensity to provide instant pleasure. It’s grown in all of the notable wine-growing countries in the world, but perhaps nowhere does it achieve its zenith and display its chameleon-like qualities as in the Northern Rhone Valley of France.
Join us and James Johnston, Director of World Wine Estates, as we mark International Shiraz/Syrah Day with a tasting of superb wines from the Northern Rhone, comprising some of its most reputed appellations, including but not limited to Saint-Joseph, Cornas, Côte-Rôtie, and Hermitage. James will provide a unique insight into the many faces of this popular variety through the lens of its spiritual home and some of its greatest producers.
