Sake Masterclass

Sake has long been enjoyed in Australia, but as to how many of us are able to appreciate it beyond simple enjoyment – well, it’s fair to say that number would be relatively smaller.

With Japan being currently a top travel destination for Australians, and by extension Sake a growing commodity in the Australian market, we’re riding that wave and presenting a unique Masterclass here at our South Melbourne store.

We’ve been working with Sake expert Masa Nishimoto – of importer Sakelier – for some time now and are excited to have him guide you through an evening of boutique Sake, Plum Wine and a Yuzu Spirit. You’ll taste through six Sake, each divided into brackets of two where the focus will be the different types of rice used, the polishing rate, different pressing; and just how much these affect the style of Sake produced. Following this you’ll get to taste a delicious Plum Wine and a Yuzu Spirit, both of which have skyrocketed in popularity lately.

What’s more, you’ll get to enjoy a selection of premium sushi from boutique Albert Park institution Moonfishh, certainly one of Melbourne’s greatest purveyors of quality sushi.
