Historically the wines from the Southern Rhone have been considered uncomplicated and easy to appreciate. Their generous, ripe and obvious nature lend themselves to opulent, uncomplicated fruit-forward wines. To genralise, however, would be to dismiss the many nuances that exist between, appellation, site and vigneron. In fact the prevalnece of many appellations, all with their own distinctive characteristics makes this a region more interesting and complex when you scratch the surface.
