Toolangi Vineyards was recently purchased by Helmut Konecsny, owner of Rochford Wines. 2018 is the first set of wines under the new regime – the 2017 vintage was sold off in bulk so the new Toolangi team could start afresh, so to speak. There is now a single winemaker in charge of all the wines: Mark Lunt, who’s CV includes multiple vintages in Burgundy at Rousseau & Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.
This is classically-styles with lots of stonefruit, almond meal and cahew flavours. Oak is there but is unobtrusive and sits nicely in the wine. A label on the ascent for sure.

Campbell Mattinson, The Winefront

“On the money. Lovely wine to drink. Enough flavour, enough complexity, a bit of style and a satisfying finish. Honeysuckle, flint, stonefruit, malt and toast. Oak is sinking deliciously into the wine. Bran/toasty oat-like highlights too. The more I looked at it the more I liked it.” – Campbell Mattinson (2018 vintage)
