  • Sangiovese, considered one of the most fickle of all grape varieties, has a long history in its spiritual home of Tuscany. However, its rise to prominence and worldwide popularity has not been as straightforward as you may think. The importance of site, winemaking philosophy, Tuscany as a global mecca for tourism, wine trends and international investment have all played a part in its chequered story.

Yet there is no doubt that at its best it can produce world-class, complex and often age-worthy wines that are singular and truly speak of place. This Masterclass will be an exploration of what makes great Sangiovese in its spiritual home (and a little further afield), the stylistic differences that exist between appellation while also understanding its rise to prominence over the years.
