The Chave family has been rooted on the hill of Hermitage since 1481, making them one of the Rhône’s great dynasties. Today, Jean-Louis Chave continues the legacy, blending parcels from across the appellation’s most famous lieux-dits — Bessards for structure, Méal for richness, Hermite for perfume, Greffieux for flesh, and others — to create what many consider the complete expression of Hermitage. Vineyards are farmed organically, harvested by hand, and vinified traditionally with minimal intervention. Ageing takes place in large, mostly neutral oak, allowing the terroir to shine. The 2017 is profound: layers of cassis, blackberry and plum mingle with graphite, smoke, spice and hints of violets. The palate is powerful and structured, yet finely balanced, with immense length and a mineral freshness that promises decades of evolution. This is not a single-note Syrah but a symphony of Hermitage’s terroirs, blended with the patience and intuition that has defined the Chaves for centuries. A wine to cellar for 30+ years, best decanted several hours in advance if opened now.

There is no minimum order, you can order a single bottle or a mixed case.
Le Pont Wine Stores supports the responsible service of alcohol. Under Australian law, it is illegal for anyone under the age of eighteen to either order or receive alcohol. We dispatch orders Monday to Friday and, depending on your location, use the services of Fastway Couriers or Australia Post. For delivery to most Australian cities, please allow five working days and seven for rural and regional areas.
In the event of extreme weather conditions, we reserve the right to hold your order until such time as the weather is favourable to transport it. We will contact you by telephone to arrange an alternative delivery time.
We offer free delivery for all orders over $250.
For orders under $250, delivery charges will apply for each singular carton, (ie; 18 bottles will equal 2 cartons – 1 carton of 6 and another of 12). This charge (if applicable) will be applied at the time of checkout.
“I’ve ordered the wrong item”
If you have ordered the wrong item, please contact us to arrange a return. Return shipping for ordering the incorrect item will be at the expense of the customer. Le Pont Wine Stores will issue a full refund for the goods within 30 days.
“I’ve received the incorrect item”
If your order has been packed incorrectly by Le Pont Wine Stores and you receive the incorrect product in your shipment, please notify Le Pont Wine Stores strictly within 48 hours of receipt of the shipment. Le Pont Wine Stores will request that you return the incorrect items in the original carton. On receipt of the intact returned goods, and within 30 days, Le Pont Wine Stores will refund to you the amount for the incorrect item/s, plus the return shipping costs.
