Few names carry the weight and consistency of E. Guigal when it comes to the Rhône Valley. A benchmark producer whose wines have shaped the modern reputation of the region, Guigal represents both heritage and precision at the highest level.
Founded in 1946 by Étienne Guigal, the estate has grown into one of the most influential domaines in the Rhône, spanning some of its most distinguished vineyard sites. Under the direction of Marcel Guigal and now Philippe Guigal, the house has built a reputation for wines that combine depth, structure and remarkable consistency across vintages.
The estate is based at the historic Château d'Ampuis, where Guigal’s in-house cooperage allows precise control over barrel selection and maturation. This level of involvement extends to every stage of élevage, shaping wines that are defined not only by their vineyard sites, but also by a consistent and deliberate house style.
While the range spans across the Rhône Valley, E. Guigal has become a benchmark for the region, producing wines that consistently set the standard for Syrah on a global scale.
The tasting will be led by Brett Crittenden, Guigal’s ambassador in Australia, offering a direct connection to the estate and its wines. Backed by decades of experience across international wine markets and major judging panels, he brings a grounded, practical perspective to the tasting.
This masterclass offers an in-depth look at the philosophy, vineyard sites and stylistic identity of E. Guigal, with a structured tasting aimed at understanding the breadth and consistency of the range.
